the Six o'clock Jazz Quartet

Founded by Sam Fortier in 2013, the quartet enjoys performing and experimenting with a wide variety of Jazz repertoire​.  In the past, the Six o'clock Quartet has performed at venues such as the Manchester Country Club and in 2014 was honored to perform at the NH Governor's Mansion in Concord for Governor Maggie Hassan. 

Kyle Quiron
 

Kyle Quiron is currently a Senior at Plymouth State University pursuing a degree in Music Education.  Although his primary focus in college has been classical saxophone, Kyle plays piano for the Six o'clock Quartet.   

 

Kyle has won numerous composing competitions throughout his undergraduate degree and has had his work performed by many ensembles.  Such ensembles include the Manchester Choral Society and the Sandwich Singers.  In addition he has composed solo works for the principal members of the New Hampshire Music Festival.

 

Kyle was also the winner of the New England Intercollegiate Concerto Competition in the Spring of 2014.

Joseph Jarvis
 

Joey Jarvis is presently completing his final semester of a B.S. in Music Education at Plymouth State University.  There he served for the past six semesters as the Student Assistant of Jazz Ensembles and was the recipient of the Jazz Fellowship.  

 

A virtuoso improviser on the tenor saxophone earns him a high level of respect amongst the area's jazz community.  Joey has been a featured soloist at the All New England Jazz Festival and has soloed alongside living jazz legend Chris Vadala.  

 

 

Ben Chappell
 

Ben Chappell graduated early from Plymouth State University in the Fall of 2014 as a Music Contract Major in Percussion Performance.  Notable performances in a wide range of ensembles have included Carmina Burana, Rhapsody in BlueAvenue Q, and the Three Penny Opera.  

 

Inspired by the music, Ben has spent an extensive time studying the drumming and musical culture of the African country, Ghana.  Ben consistently infuses the skills and knowledge learned from his visit into his own jazz style.  

 

Ben is an original member of the rock collective Pardon the Spins which was founded in 2012.  The Band has won numerious 'Battle of the Bands' competitions and performed at a variety of venues including the Common Man's The Flying Monkey.  This past year the band was honored with the title of "Best Band in NH" from New Hampshire Magazine. The Spins have opened and played alongside groups and artists such as Mac Miller, Smashmouth, The Cool Kids, Mayday Parade and Barefoot Truth.
